Harissa Tradition

The harissa was born in Nabeul, Tunisia, a small city that hosts an annual Harissa Trade Fair.

It is the most commonly used condiment of the North African cuisines and has been named the “New Sriracha” by the Washington Post (2017).

This unique and favorite spicy condiment is continually used to heat up and enhance the vast array of soups, sauces, spreads, tagines, couscous, pasta, sandwiches, and many other dishes of the Tunisian and Mediterranean cuisines.

Its intense red color and dynamic taste are due to our key ingredients–cayenne peppers, garlic, caraway, and coriander–that are combined to create a harmonious mélange of savors and spices.

Many “harissas” have recently appeared on the US market, but none of them compare to the Jardins de Carthage’s unique Harissa taste…we guarantee it.
